COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION

LADDER, PORTABLE (WOOD)

The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description in preference to Federal Specification LLL-L-51, type II.

This description covers heavy duty wooden extension ladders for general utility work having a 250-pound duty rating.

The ladders shall be furnished in five sizes, as specified: 20-, 24-, 32-, 36-, and 40-foot respectively.

Salient characteristics:

Ladder type- type I, 250-pound duty rating, industrial per ANSI Standard A14.1

Material- wood, unpainted

Rung spacing- shall be on 12 inch + 1/4 inch centers

Ladder shoes- shall be furnished

Number of ladder sections- two (2)

Workmanship. The rungs and side rails shall be smooth and free of splinters. Shoulders of rungs shall bear on the side rails. The ladder shall be free from any defects which affect the appearance, serviceability, and durability.

Conformance. All ladders must meet or exceed the requirements of ANSI Standard A14.1 or the latest issue of the standard at the date of the solicitation.

Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking. The preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
